Driving alone at 3am next to an empty cornfield is never a good idea - and if the central figure of a bizarre story told in the February 1993 issue of Fate Magazine didn't already know this, she would come to very soon. A monstrous, winged reptilian entity was waiting for her - perhaps to punish her for learning nothing from horror movies.
On Leathery Wings[]
It was Spring of 1980, and an unnamed lone motorist was driving along a high bank near a secluded cornfield in Finksburg, Maryland when she spotted a grey-coloured figure stood in the road. She initially took it to be a man, but as she neared the entity she realised that it was something much weirder. It was a 'very tall' reptilian humanoid with wings and a notably-pointed chin. Perhaps noticing that it was being watched, the creature started flapping its wings and rose up above the car into the air. These wingbeats were apparently so strong that they caused enough wind displacement to make the car literally shake. After this terrifying sight, the monster quickly vanished from sight.
The entity involved in this case reminds me of the monster sighted twice during the Medford Lizard Man Flap, and it also resembles the aliens supposedly known as 'Alpha Draconians' as linked to the highly controversial conspiracy theorist Alex Collier. I don't personally buy into what Collier says about the Draconians (which were probably just inspired by the ramblings of David Icke), but it is certainly interesting to see winged reptilian entities seemingly appearing in real life.

Well, I first heard about this incident from Monster! An A-Z of Zooform Phenomena by Neil Arnold, in which it was named the 'Finksburg Phantom' and amusingly referred to as a 'leathery-winged nuisance', which was the turn of phrase that encouraged me to write a brief article about it. I later found more information in the Humanoid Encounters books by Albert Rosales.
